freejazzy Simply a perfect mix of irresistable grooves that are just about to be a little bit too slow. However, due to the right seasoning with touching vocals and horns and electronic bits & sequences they're not. Pushing steadily forward is what they do. Favorite track: 10 Feet Tall.

Kick arse album full of groove. Favorite track: Slings And Arrows.

Naphicus FFD's BAYS mixes reggae and dub with snippets of electronica, a dash of chiptunes and wind phrases reminiscent of Burnin' Spear. Lyrics blend right in with the rest of the instruments to a great effect. FFD have earned themselves a new fan. Great music!!! Favorite track: 10 Feet Tall.

about

Sonic fourth studio album from Fat Freddy's Drop, BAYS draws on the lexicon of genres that have come to epitomize the bands’ sound.

Opening with the slow burn funk of ‘Wairunga Blues’ the album journeys through a hybrid of reggae, jazz with techno rhythms underpinning Freddy’s signature horns and Joe Dukie’s soulful and introspective vocal, arriving finally on the crooked blues jam of ‘Novak’. The album exudes the confidence of a band truly comfortable in their skin.

“It’s been a more creative process writing this album in the studio rather than recording songs which have been well road-tested”, Freddy’s vocalist Joe Dukie said.

about

Fat Freddy's Drop Wellington

Internationally regarded as one of the world’s finest live draws, Fat Freddy’s Drop hail from New Zealand, South Pacific.
FFD has navigated its way from an incubator of sunshine reggae thru a colour-saturated field of soul psychedelia before swerving onto a desolate Detroit superhighway at night. It’s a potent mixture of jazz virtuosity and diaphragm-wrecking digital sonics.
